Northville

Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 30, in Fulton County

Historic Northville in the Adirondack Park is on Great Sacandaga Lake.

Northville, in the southern Adirondack foothills, has lots of events, in every season, that will give you a sense of typical Adirondack small town community spirit.

You can enjoy wonderful boating, fishing, biking, skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, and a variety of community-based special events.

In spring, find treasures at the annual village-wide garage and antique sales, and watch the return of Chimney Swifts from the Amazon Jungle. In the summer, sample some great down-home cooking and meet local residents at the annual roast beef dinner, the ice cream social, and the chicken barbecue. Take in parades and a classic car show during the “Doin’s,” Northville’s Independence Day Celebration that’s been taking place for more than 50 years. On Columbus Day Weekend at the annual Fall Fest, enjoy events, parades, arts and crafts -- and beautiful scenery compliments of Mother Nature. Celebrate an old-fashioned Christmas, the first Saturday in December, that includes a tree decorating contest, a bonfire, tree lighting, a visits by Santa, and caroling.

Serious hikers from around the country know Northville as the westernstarting point for the Northville Lake Placid Trail. The trail’s 122miles of forests connect the picturesque southern Adirondack foothillswith the Adirondack High Peaks region to the North.

The 140 mile Great Sacandaga Day Ride Scenic Ride around the Lake is a special favorite of motorcycle riders. A portion of the route follows the ADK Trail on Route 30 along the lakeshore between Mayfield and Northville.

Beginning in the north just a few miles below the Canadian border, down to the Mohawk River Valley in the middle of New York State, the 188-mile Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway gives travelers easy access to the scenic beauty of the Adirondack Mountains. Enjoy year-round recreational activities, countless opportunities to explore history, and the friendly people and relaxed pace of life in small communities along the byway.
