Annual Events
As you travel the Adirondack North Country Scenic Byways be sure to stop and enjoy some of the specials events taking place in the communities. A visit to any of these events is an easy way to meet the local people and learn about our traditions, culture, and how we set aside days just to have fun.
Something different is happening along the Byways in every season. If you like festivals you can pick from harvest fests, apple fests or canoe fests. Enjoy some good old-fashioned leaf peeping and find a potluck supper to warm you after a day in the woods. When the days turn cold, the North Country comes alive with ice fishing derbies, winter carnival celebrations with parades and ice palaces and snowmobile events. There is a special Christmas day bird count across the region. When spring arrives the ice and snow melts, you can join residents, friends and visitors to enjoy paddle fests, maple fests, and pancake breakfasts. Summer’s calendar is filled with art and music in the parks, heritage days, sailing regattas, quilting bees, sport triathlons, country fairs, and even lectures on lore and culture.
We have only included a small sampling of significant annual events to give you a taste of the choices awaiting you. The actual list of community happenings is almost endless. Contact local Chambers of Commerce for additional information on the exact schedule of events, their specific locations and further details on seasonal happenings.
