Floyd Bennett Memorial Bandstand
Central Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 28 and U.S. Highway 9, near Warrensburg in Warren County
This lovely bandstand in the heart of Warrensburg was named for Warrensburg native Floyd Bennett.
Memorial to Floyd Bennett, Warrensburg native. Bennett was born in Warrensburg, New York in 1890. He was an automobile mechanic before enlisting in the Navy in 1917; later he was warranted a Machinist and learned to fly. He served with Richard E. Byrd on an aviation survey of Greenland in 1925, where Byrd came to respect Bennett's abilities as a pilot. Appropriate place for kiosk with information about Floyd and his accomplishments.
