Deer River Gorge

Olympic Byway, County Rt. 3, near Carthage in Jefferson County

The Deer River Gorge is 12.4 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater.

The put-in location is in the bridge in the town of New Boston on Route 177. The take-out location is the High Falls Dam northeast of Copenhagen on Route 12. Another section for paddling along Deer River is the New Boston to High Falls Dam section.
