Saranac Lake Cross Country Ski and Snowmobile Trails

Olympic Byway, County Rt. 3, near Saranac Lake in Franklin County

On Route 86 just south of Saranac Lake, a medium sized dirt pull off is found at the train tracks.

From here, skiers and snowmobilers can head down the tracks northward into Saranac Lake or south then east to Lake Placid. Be careful at the several village street intersections. Public use of the railroad corridor is restricted to winter when the seasonal excursion railway is not operating.
