Warren County Historical Society
Central Adirondack Trail, U.S. Highway 9, near Lake George in Warren County
The Warren County Historical Society was chartered in 1997 by the NY Education Department for the collection, preservation and promotion of the heritage of Warren County.
The headquarters of the Society is located in the historical old Queensbury Fire Hall at 195 Sunnyside Rd, Queensbury. A research library holds some 450 volumes of Warren County and related texts plus files on persons, places and topics related to the county, and a small genealogical collection. Research has been undertaken on the Underground Railroad, the Great Depression, Johnson’s Military Road, and notable County people with a special emphasis on women. The Society houses the Old Quaker Burying Ground archeological collection, the Barker and Henry architectural collection, and three disbanded women’s collections from the Women’s Auxiliary of World War I, Everywoman’s Council, and the Greater Glens Falls League of Women Voters, in addition to printed and manuscript materials, maps, photographs, film, audio and videotapes, oral histories, paintings, and artifacts.
