Prospect Mountain Hiking Trail, NYS DEC

Central Adirondack Trail, U.S. Highway 9, near Lake George in Warren County

Begins at the end of Smith Street, off Montcalm, and turn south a half block to the sign indicating the start of the trail.

Prospect Mountain Trail, marked 1.7 miles long, leads to the summit. To reach the trail from Lake George Village, turn left on Montcalm Street to Smith Street. At Smith Street, turn south a half block to the sign indicating the start of the trail, where it crosses the Northway on an elevated walkway. The climb to the summit is difficult but rewarding. The trail travels part the roadbed of an old funicular railway that served a once thriving summer hotel on the mountain.
