Black Bear Mountain NYSDEC Trailhead
Central Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 28, near Inlet in Hamilton County
The trailhead is located off Route 28 between Eagle Bay and Inlet, north of Old Forge.
Look for the trailhead parking lot about 10 miles north of Old Forge, and just shortof the center of Inlet. This trailhead shares a parking lot with Rocky Pont Mountain. The trail up Black Bear starts at the end of the old road / parking lot nearest Inlet, all the way to the right of the parking lot. Black Bear Mountain offers two routes to the summit: a shorter but steeper route of 1.9 miles, and the longer route of 3.1 miles to the summit, where you will find a large open area and great views both down toward the Chain of Lakes and the northeast toward the High Peaks.
