NYSDEC Region 5 Headquarters
Olympic Byway, State Rt. 86, near Saranac Lake in Franklin County
The Region 5 NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, or DEC, headquarters are in Ray Brook, on Route 86, in a compound with other state agencies.
New York State has a lot more green space than you might think and the DEC exists to manage and protect it. Region 5 covers the eastern Adirondacks of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton, Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties. The main office is in Ray Brook, with suboffices in Northville and Warrensburg.
