Town of Pitcairn
Olympic Byway, in St. Lawrence County
The hamlet of Pitcairn is in the Town of Pitcairn near the Oswegatchie River west of Star Lake.
The many friendly communities in Towns like this one along the Olympic Scenic Byway provide the opportunity for an enjoyable walk, refreshment, and to learn more about the area. The Olympic Byway reveals nature’s renaissance with a patchwork blend of picturesque communities, small-scale industry and natural beauty. The 170-mile route starts near the shore of Lake Champlain at Keeseville on the east end, and near the shore of Lake Ontario by Sackets Harbor and Watertown on the west. From those two great water bodies, the route travels up into the Adirondack Mountain region and through its oasis at its center, the Adirondack Park. Along the way the Ausable, Oswegatchie, and Black Rivers guide the way with their scenic views waterfalls, drops, and riffles.
