Mt. Baker NYSDEC Trailhead

Olympic Byway, State Rt. 3 and State Rt. 86, near Saranac Lake in Franklin County

Mount Baker is a .9 mile hike (1.8 round trip) that can be done with the whole family and rewards you with a spectacular view.

The trailhead from downtown Saranac Lake, Main Street, can be had by driving or walking to the intersection with Pine Street; turn right then take the first left, Forest Hill Avenue, and proceed straight to Moody Pond, where trailhead is marked at the end of the pond. A short 0.9 mile hike up a relatively moderate mountain is rewarding with nice view of the Village of Saranac Lake, Lake Flower and High Peaks to the east. Also a popular snowshoe.
