Golden Beach NYSDEC Campground & Day Use Area

Central Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 28, near Raquette Lake in Hamilton County

Located on the shore of the beautiful 5,935-acre Raquette Lake this 207 campsite park operated by NYS DEC offers many opportunities for enjoying the Adirondack Park.

The campground is about 4 miles east of Raquette Lake Village on Route 28. Open from mid-May until Labor Day; the registration booth is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. unless otherwise posted. Raquette Lake provides boating opportunities to explore 99 miles of shoreline with views of some historic Adirondack Great Camps. Fish for lake and brook trout, small mouth bass and perch. Motorboats, rowboats and canoes are allowed. There is a shallow boat launch available for small and cartop boats and canoes.

Golden Beach offers one of the largest natural beaches in the area. Swimming allowed when lifeguards are on duty. Bring your picnic basket and enjoy lunch in a picnic area adjacent to the beach. Local hiking opportunities include Blue Mountain with its fire tower on the summit providing panoramic views of the surrounding area. Grassy and Wilson Pond trails are nearby. Be sure to bring your fishing pole when you visit Wilson Pond to take advantage of a great trout fishing water.
