Lake Everest

Olympic Byway, State Rt. 86, near Wilmington in Essex County

In the vicinity of the West Branch of the Ausable River, near Wilmington and Route 86, Lake Everest offers many opportunities for trout angling.

The best put-in for Lake Everest is at the boat ramp at the Wilmington Town Beach, located on Bowman Lane just off Route 86. Look for the Lake Everest sign. This area also provides flat-water canoeing or kayaking on the impoundment behind the Wilmington Dam. There is also interesting canoeing orkayaking through backwater runs and abandoned beaver dams. Many opportunities exist for wildlife viewing along these routes.
