Great Bend and Felts Mills Recreation Trail

Olympic Byway, County Rt. 3, near Great Bend in Jefferson County

Felts Mills Creek traverses under a bridge crossing Route 3 in the hamlet to the Black River and through a forest.

Between the towns of Deferiet and Black River, along the northern edge of the Black River, is a 2-mile-plus trail, most of which is wooded. The western end of the trail looks to afford the easiest parking and access. Take Route 3 to Felts Mills, turn north on Route 283, cross the river and turn onto Pearl Street at the first intersection. Look for signs and acceptable parking. Classified as a stocked brook trout stream; offers outdoor enthusiasts public access to fishing.
