Fourth Lake Day Use and Picnic Area
Central Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 28, near Old Forge in Herkimer County
This facility contains parking for picnicking and for car-top boat launching. Also includes picnic tables, grills and bathroom facilities.
Fourth Lake Day Use Area located east of Old Forge on South Shore Road. It also is the headquarters where registration and permits are issued for Alger Island. A state-owned boat launch with a ramp for launching larger, motorized boats is located nearby on Route 28 in Inlet. This resource is in Section 1 of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, a 740-mile water route extending from Old Forge in the Adirondack Park to Fort Kent, Maine.
