Poors Island Recreation Area

Olympic Byway, State Rt. 3, near Black River in Jefferson County

The Village of Black River boasts the Poors Island Recreation area allowing convenient access to the Black River.

Located in the Village of Black River's downtown area, Poors Island with its recreation area are conveniently accessed via a bridge over the Black River. The Poors Island Recreation area features a car top launch site, canoe/kayakk portage, picnic area, walking trail and shoreline fishing. In addition, ruins of historic mill sites remain and serve as points of interest for the history enthusiast.
