Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 30, near Long Lake in Hamilton County

Formed by the glacial damming and eventual widening of the Raquette River, this 14 mile long, relatively shallow, narrow lake is fishing, boating and camping fun spot for all ages.

Long Lake is a glacial widening of the Raquette River and is part of the water route connecting the Fulton Chain Lakes with the Saint Lawrence river drainage. Long Lake village lies along Route 30 and is the most northerly town in Hamilton county, a summer tourism destination offering fishing, hiking, boating, and many other outdoor activities. In the winter months, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are very popular. This resource is in Section 1 of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, a 740-mile water route extending from Old Forge in the Adirondack Park to Fort Kent, Maine.
