Green Pond Trail in Bonaparte's Cave State Forest

Public hiking access to Green Pond is provided by the 0.4 mile Green Pond Trail which is also a motor vehicle access by permit only road.
Green Pond trail is located on Bonaparte's Cave State Forest in the Town of Diana, the deep waters of Green Pond provide excellent early season trout fishing with an accessible fishing pier at end of the trail. It is accessed by a .4 mile road that requires a Motorized Access Program for People with Disabilities for motorized conveyance. It may otherwise be accessed on foot. There is an accessible fishing pier located on the shoreline of the pond featuring excellent fishing opportunities for brook trout. Motorized access permit holders can call the Lowville DEC office at 315-376-3521 to get the lock combination. Call ahead before each planned trip, as the combination changes.
