Eighth Lake NYSDEC Campground

Central Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 28, near Inlet in Hamilton County

Close to Inlet and not far from Old Forge, located on the southeast shore of 314 acre Eighth Lake, this campground offers great fishing.

The campsites offer privacy; they are large and well forested. Camping equipment from tents to 40-foot RV's can be accommodated. Eighth Lake Campground offers a variety of recreational opportunities including: canoeing and boating, fishing, hiking, and bicycling. The campground is open from mid-May and remains open through the Fall foliage season, closing on Columbus Day. The registration booth is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. unless otherwise posted. 126 tent and trailer sites, day use picnic area with tables and fireplaces, flush toilets, hot showers, trailer dump station, recycling center, mobility impaired accessibility, sand beach, swimming area, bathhouse, DEC canoe and boat rentals, hiking trails. Powerboats, rowboats, and canoes allowed. Boat and canoe rental available. The boat launch consists of a hard surface launching ramp with parking for 10 cars and is the only public access to the lake. State maintained trails are adjacent to the campground and many other trails are nearby. This resource is in Section 1 of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, a 740-mile water route extending from Old Forge in the Adirondack Park to Fort Kent, Maine.
