Buttermilk Falls

Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 30, near Long Lake in Hamilton County

A short, well-used trail leads to large flat rocks, a great spot for picnics, near beautiful Buttermilk Falls on the Raquette river.

Buttermilk Falls is located on the Raquette River outside Long Lake, via NYS Route 28 and 30. Go south for 3 miles to North Point Road and there will be a sign here reading Buttermilk Falls. Turn west onto North Point Road and continue 2.1 miles. On the right will be another sign for Buttermilk Falls and the parking area. The setting is very pleasant and worth exploring. This resource is in Section 1 of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, a 740-mile water route extending from Old Forge in the Adirondack Park to Fort Kent, Maine.
