Moffit Beach NYSDEC Campground & Boat Launch
Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 30, near Speculator in Hamilton County
Near Speculator, includes a sand beach and a newly constructed beach boat launch helps accessibility to Sacandaga Lake's fine fishing and water sports.
For the record, this is on smaller Sacandaga Lake near the village of Speculator, not to be confused with the Great Sacandaga Lake further south. For boaters, there is parking for 30 cars and trailers near the beach launch.This popular family campground offers large, level sites within the tall white pine trees. Many sites are located on the water's edge. From July to Labor Day there is an Interpretive Activity Program and a Junior Naturalist Program to enrich the camping experience. The campground also offers a guarded natural sand beach from mid-June to Labor Day, a large picnic area with pavilion, and an informal nature trail with information stations. From Route 30 in the Village of Speculator, turn onto Route 8 west for two miles, turn right onto Page Street at the DEC sign. Follow one mile to the campground on left.
