Town of Benson

Adirondack Trail, in Hamilton County

The Silver Lake Wilderness is partially in the Town of Benson, near the Sacandaga River.

Benson’s location in close proximity to the Great Sacandaga Lake makes for wonderful water based activities. With the beautiful lake, the closeness to the Silver Lake Wilderness, which is the forth largest and southern most wilderness area in the Adirondack Park, and the extraordinary fall foliage, the area is one to bring a camera to. A fall of the year visit would also be a time to enjoy some apple picking in a nearby orchard. Benson is also the actual starting point of the Northville-Lake Placid hiking trail.
