The 1932 & 1980 Winter Olympic Museum
Olympic Byway, State Rt. 73 and State Rt. 86, near Lake Placid in Essex County
The 1932 & 1980 Winter Olympic Museum acts as the proverbial keeper of the flame. If you're interested in the story of how this little mountain village twice became the center of the winter sports world, the museum is for you.
The 1932 & 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum commemorates the 1932 Winter Olympics and 1980 Winter Olympics. Our displays and exhibits will bring to life the memories and accounts of Olympic achievement that occurred here in 1932 and 1980. We have torches, medals, skates, bobsleighs and historical memorabilia from the Olympic Games. Watch the never released historical 1980 Miracle on Ice hockey game. Its collection includes the "Fram III" bobsled from the 1932 Olympic Games, the skates used by Jack Shea in the same games, as well as memorabilia from the 1980 Miracle on Ice hockey team.
