Red Dot Trails Trailhead

Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 30 and County Rt. 88, near Paul Smiths in Franklin County

From the White Pine Road, walk along glacial ponds, eskers, and an old canal under towering pines to leantos and Osgood and Church ponds.

A 2.5 mile loop plus several spur trails. Follow NYS Route 30 to Paul Smiths. Turn onto Route 86 and take a left onto the White Pine Road, where the trailhead is located. This is an interesting walk with glacial ponds and eskers, a grove of towering Cathedral Pines, and a unique old canal that connects the ponds to larger Osgood Pond. There are four lean-tos, two wooden bridges, nicely situated benches and great views overlooking Osgood Pond.
