Griffin Gorge and Waterfall

Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 30 and State Rt. 8, near Speculator in Hamilton County

View of a spectacular gorge and small waterfall on the East Branch of the Sacandaga River.

A breathtaking geological formation and a surprising find on the Sacandaga. There is a nice view from the bridge and an easy to moderate trail leading downstream along the ridge for a closer view of the cascading waterfall and swimming hole. Getting down to the water's edge though is very steep in places.

The short dirt road to the bridge and parking beyond is off Route 8, accessed between Speculator and Wells from the Adirondack Trail, Rt 30, on what is called Teachout Road.
