Saranac Inn

Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 30, in Franklin County

Saranac Inn is on the north shore of Upper Saranac Lake near the St. Regis Wilderness Canoe Area.

In its heyday in the early 1900s, Saranac Inn was a favorite spot of U.S. presidents, including Grover Cleveland and Chester A. Arthur. Today the hamlet is a starting point for canoeing and other boating trips on world famous historic lakes and ponds.

A memorable event for visitors to Saranac Inn is worship at the Island Chapel, an interdenominational chapel on its own island.  Services, during the summer only, are conducted by inspirational speakers. Worshiping here has been a unique experience since the mid-1800’s. The Chapel is nestled among tall pines, overlooks majestic mountain peaks, and  is surrounded by sparkling water. Worshipers here feel it gives them a journey back in time. Access to the Chapel is by boat only.  If  you don't have your own craft, transportation is available.

Area activities including golfing, numerous paddling events and boating, and visits to nearby Saranac Lake, and the Paul Smiths Visitors Interpretive Center.
