North River

Scenic North River on the Hudson River and start point for guided whitewater raft trips.
North River is best known as a start point for some of the best whitewater rafting in the Eastern USA. Fishing the Hudson River is another pleasant activity. Paddlers can access the Hudson at New York State maintained pull-offs.
The nearby 112,000 acre Siamese Ponds Wilderness offers hikers and backpackers the opportunity to experience the solitude and splendor of backcountry camping and spectacular scenery. Access to trailheads is on 13th Lake Road in the hamlet.
The many friendly communities like this one along the Central Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway provide the opportunity for an enjoyable walk, refreshment, and to learn more about the region. The 153-mile Central Adirondack Trail forms the shape of a crescent, originating in the fertile lowland areas surrounding the cities of Glens Falls and Rome, and winding through the south-central portion of the Adirondack Park. The Hudson River on the eastern end and the Erie Canal on the west are the gateways to many scenic lakes and mountain streams that are the distinguishing geographic features along much of this scenic byway.
