Inlet
Central Adirondack Trail, State Rt. 28, in Hamilton County
Scenic Inlet, near the Moose River Plains on Fourth Lake has a nice public beach, both road and mountain biking opportunities, and paddling in all directions.
No matter which of the four seasons you visit Inlet, there are plenty of activities and events. You'll find golfing, hiking, paddling, fishing, snowmobiling, biking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing in the community and nearby.
Every spring, thousands of paddlers come to this area to enjoy the wonderful lake resources and learn about choices in water crafts. Located between Fourth and Sixth Lake in the Fulton Chain, Inlet has long been noted as a center for eco-tourism.
If swimming is one of your interests, Arrowhead Park and the public beach in the center of the village offer safe, family fun.
The 153- mile Central Adirondack Trail begins in the east in Glens Falls and ends at the western gateway in Rome on the historic Erie Canal. This crescent shaped route brings you through the foothills and mountains of the south-central Adirondack Park. From the east you pass near scenic Lake George, alongside wild, whitewater sections of the Hudson River, and the shores of Long Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, Raquette Lake, and the Fulton Chain. The entire route features other numerous lakes and mountain streams that are a paddler’s and boater’s paradise. Plan to spend time at the many attractions on the byway including The Hyde Museum in Glens Falls, the world famous Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake, and the Arts Center in Old Forge. Meet local artisans and crafts makers all along the byway, and plan to visit historic Fort Stanwix and The Erie Canal Village in Rome.
